Some very real mistakes were made by Christopher Nolan with his dream-scape in “Inception”. While the premise without a shred of doubt is one the most original seen through many summers past. Take a look on more than 10 Stupid Mistakes in Inception movie.
The movie is not your average Oscar bet but it does offer up some ingenuous ideas and possibilities for one to ponder over. The movie has some severe misfires in character development accompanied with some sinkholes in the script. These flaws may very well deny the movie the “masterpiece” tag.
Character mistakes:
1. On the Shinkansen train, Cobb says, "I'm getting off in Kyoto." This is not exactly wrong, but a moment afterwards they are in Tokyo and you see the Tokyo skyline.
2. Towards the end of the movie, Cobb holds his just-shot wife, he yells at Ariadne, "That's the kicker, Ellen. You gotta go now!" (As in Ellen Page, the actress who portrays Ariadne). It can’t be heard but read his lips.
3. In other scene, in the café, Ariadne lifts her cup to take a drink and in the very next shot she is putting the cup back down.
4. At the limbo, Ariadne and Cobb both are soaking wet. But when they are riding the elevator up, you can see that Ariadne's hair is dry.
5. The mistake is seen, when the helicopter lands on the roof top and Cobb and Arthur leave, the rotors are still heard rotating but there is no wind blowing (Cobb's hair, clothes) on the outside of the helicopter.
Mistake 1:
In the movie, Ellen Page was underused and while that isn’t a reason for complains, the shallow character which she’s supposed to inhabit is. As the architect of dreams, it can be seen Page wondering whether Cobb (played by DiCaprio) is offering an internship or a job, and in other page her adequate perceptive tact for the world of lucid dreams is displayed. This all-too-abrupt transition is not much of a transition in the first place; consider it to be more of a hiccup in Nolan’s years perfecting Inception.
Mistake 2:
Cobb and his crew of dream extractors (read thieves) have made a profession of stealing dreams for corporate giants in a new age of blue-collared espionage – interesting. Page’s character being home-schooled by Cobb was let in on this essential fact. For a story within a story, Nolan seems to want his audience to buy the fact that stealing dreams is drab in the seemingly impossible task of planting a idea in order to alter future actions of people. Planting ideas for an example, the concept of the word “inception”, is a refreshing, thought provoking idea.
Mistake 3:
Inception did not start well. Christopher Nolan rushed to establish the premise of Cobb seeking salvation. To escape the clutches of an evil corporate entity in the first 15 minutes of the movie, he had to get his to “want” for that. That doesn’t work out too well.
Inception starts at a pace that struggles to realize the rest of the 2 hours that remain forward. The Prestige, the director know how to set things off considerably well Judging by The Dark Knight and Memento. Inception, by its omissions, weighed down at times. In no way, it corrupts the entire experience that Nolan dreams up for an audience thirsty for “some original that is not a sequel”.
Deliberate "mistake":
1. In the first scene in the hotel suite with Cobb, Mal and Ariadne, the sound of the elevator goes up and then coming back down with Cobb inside cannot be heard. Even the elevator makes quite a big noise while moving. This is probably done for the dramatic effect of Cobb suddenly appearing in the room with Mal and Ariadne.
2. In the second scene, Cobb's totem is kept on the table with the longer end down when Cobb is taken to Saito (Old Man). But as the PoV changes to Saito's, the totem keeps changing position with the shorter end down. This mistake is almost four times.
3. In mob scene outside Saito's love nest, the same black Saab is seen getting firebombed twice. From two different angles, it was shot with the two shots played about a minute apart to give the impression of two cars getting bombed. In the first angle as well, it is clear the car has no engine.
Audio problem:
1. In the dream-café, Cobb talks to Ariadne right before telling her that it's all a dream, but from a side angle, compare to the mouth from where the sound come out does not match that clearly belongs to the front angles.
2. In the dream level, when they are in the snow after the forger fights the guard and shoots him, he is seen sliding down the hill past the main building but in the next shot he is standing next to it planting the bomb on that same building he just slid past.
3. When Cobb tells Ariadne to draw a maze, she turns her head to the left. A frame later the head is up and she is turning it again.
4. In the dream-café, Ariadne raises her arm to scratch her head but her hand in next angle is down.
Plot hole:
The first layer dream was in zero-gravity (i.e: the van falling off the bridge), the second layer was also in zero-gravity (i.e: the hotel room). But the zero-gravity effect did not continue to the third layer dream (i.e: the snowy mountains).
Other:
1. Cobb reveals how his first attempt at "Inception" was to plant the idea with his wife that the world they created together was not real, to convince her they needed to die (and return to the 'real' world/reality) towards the end of the film. He unveils that they grew old together in that same 'world', with a scene showing Cobb and his wife holding (old, wrinkled) hands. However when the scene is shown of them making the decision to die (by placing their heads on a railway track) they are not old, but their younger selves. If this was the moment they died to return to their reality, then it should have been the old versions of them lying on the railway track.
2. In the first dream, while escaping from the building, the right hand mirror of the van is broken by the narrow gate. In this scene, when they are driving, the other mirror is broken and the right mirror is suddenly undamaged.

confused also
Anonymous — Sat, 03/12/2011 - 09:41I think here at the end of the movie, when she jumps off the building, she is actually killing herself which makes her wake up to the next level. It is a bit confusing since she is also free falling, but she is not asleep in this dream, so she is commiting suicide and it is not a "kick". According to the movie, you wake up when you die, and in this movie if you die in a dream within a dream, you wake up to the first dream.
Remember, everyone is sedated in reality on the 10 hour plane trip, because they had a lot to do, to "plant" the idea in the ceo's head. You can only get a "kick" when you are asleep, and when you get a "kick" in reality, or in a dream level, you wake up in that "reality" you are in, or the dream level you are in. The van hitting the water off the bridge is the "kick" that wakes everyone up here.
I think the aspect of this movie that was very hard to understand was the "limbo" that all the dreamers were trying to avoid. Also, why wouldn't all the dreams collapse if you woke up in reality?
My stupid mistake
Anonymous — Sun, 12/05/2010 - 03:38After a collegue from work told me he left the theatre before the end and others that they just didn't know what the fuss was all about, I made the mistake to buy this heap of pseudo intellectual trash on blu-ray.
When a director needs 10 years to build a story about a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream misleading the audience that it is just a dream within a dream within a dream, and needs to bore us to death with an utter no story for 9/10th of the movie, I say 'snob alert'!
And that's all there is to it. Utter rubbish like most of Night M Shamalamadingdong's movies needing equal 9/10th of all of his movies to just conclude with 'an amazing ending'.
To the dumpster with these type of movies please.
I think it's a bit silly to look for silly mistakes when there is just one major unforgiven mistake, the movie by itself that is...
bERT
OMG!
Anonymous — Fri, 10/29/2010 - 01:39Thank you Anonymous for the comment.
Seriously, Inception is fucking GENIUS! If you're trying this hard to make it look bad, it just shows how lifeless you are...
you will always and forever kiss Inception's ass.
AMAZING MOVIE.
COME ON !!!!!
Anonymous — Sun, 09/26/2010 - 11:09I have three comments on this page ..
1- This movie is one of the best, greatest, most creative movies I've ever seen.
2- If you look through the details of ANY other movie, I'm sure you'll find many mistakes. I know I have over the years.
3- The fact that you went over the movie, I don't know how many times to count those mistakes and spent so much time writing this page, and the fact that so many people commented on this agreeing with you, show how great this movie is and how much people were so amazed that they're trying to make it look too good to be true.
I have an advice for you. ACCEPT the fact that this movie wasn't YOUR idea and admit the greatness of other people's works !!!!
just a guy who watched the movie
Anonymous — Thu, 09/16/2010 - 05:42Well, you got it wrong with the count.. Lv 4 to Lv 3 ignited by ariadne jumping off the building thus made her woke in the building in snowy mountain.. Lv 3 to Lv 2 ignited by the explosion in the building in the snowy mountain thus made her woke in the elevator.. Lv 2 to Lv 1 ignited by the explosion in the elevator thus made her woke in the van.. Lv 1 to reality ignited by the crush of the van to the water, thus made her woke in the plane
You did your research. Thanks
Anonymous — Thu, 09/16/2010 - 02:42You did your research. Thanks for the info! Now I have another reason to see the film again!
Logic Mistake
Anonymous — Sun, 09/12/2010 - 03:44I think the worse mistake is the one in the end of the movie. When the van jumping off the bridge touches the water they should wake up in the plane not in the van... let's see:
- Level 4 to 3 -> the girl jumps off the building. Level 3 to 2 the explosion , level 2 to 1 the elevator... and then the vehicle jumping off the bridge should wake them up to reality...
Common
Anonymous — Fri, 09/03/2010 - 08:02Most of the "mistakes" you mentioned are just common movie-oversights that the filmakers dont notice. They're caused when they film the same scene several times, then splice it together using the best takes. Every now and then, something changes between each take, and that results in the "mistakes." Almost every live action movie has these issues.
ellen page hair wet or dry in
Anonymous — Thu, 09/02/2010 - 12:20ellen page hair wet or dry in the elevator........do you think that is a mistake .....u wrote silly reasons and silly mistakes.......u did not understand the movie .............they can dream any thing shit head

Anonymous — Thu, 09/02/2010 - 00:34.. might be because of the fact, that the dream architect is still in layer 3?
