The seventh generation of the Passat, 2011 Volkswagen Passat, has been unveiled by Volkswagen at the Paris Motor Show. The new Passat is the most advanced iteration and the most efficient car. It is recognized as benchmarks in quality, design, economy and comfort. Klaus Bischoff, head of design, Volkswagen and Walter de Silva, head of design, Volkswagen Group design a complete new look to give Volkswagen Passat a fresh direction. The 2011 Passat’s styling was completely overhauled, and its front end takes on the new VW Phaeton’s design cues. In addition, the 2011 Passat contains a wider range of technological innovations.
Trendline (entry-level), Comfortline (mid-level) and the Highline (top-model) are the three trim levels that will be available in the 2011 Volkswagen Passat. A range of advanced and highly efficient petrol and diesel engines powers the new Passat. A 1.4L TSI engine producing 120 hp, a 1.8L TSI engine producing 158 hp, a 2.0L TSI producing 207 hp, and lastly, a top-range engine of a 3.6L V6 generating 296 horsepower are the Power-train options of Volkswagen Passat. Diesel options include a 1.6L TDI engine producing 103 hp and a 2.0L TDI that are available in two power outputs of a 138-hp and 168-hp. An option of manual or automatic DSG transmissions can make all engines accessible.
The new Passat is 4,769 mm in length (Estate 4,771 mm), 1,820 mm wide and 1,474 mm tall (Estate 1,519 mm). 2011 Volkswagen Passat comes with new seats, which give it fresh look. A modified dashboard with new dials, trim finishes and an analogue clock are connected by subtle chrome inserts and ambience lighting option. The new Passat comes with many new safety and comfort technologies that were only seen in the Touareg and Phaeton luxury models. The brakes at speeds below 18 mph are automatically engaged by the optional new City emergency braking function, which is a part of the Automatic Distance Control (ADC) system.
The vehicle automatically becomes accelerate with this system by this, it detect an imminent rear end collision and provides a clear space ahead in the vehicle. The driver’s inputs are monitored by the fusion of an automatic fatigue detection system and the new Passat. It will automatically emit an audible and visual warning to recommend a break if necessary. Trailer Stabilisation is incorporated by the Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP), when a factory fitted towbar is specified similar to previous Passat models.
