2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI was spied while testing in the confines of Pune city by the reader Suraj Sudhir Desai. The 2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI features and specs include the compress, diesel-powered, primer transmission-equipped, hatchback that brings the fun whilst achieving good fuel economy numbers. The car seen in the spy photos below is the TDi diesel version of the car, outfitted with Volkswagen’s Bluemotion fuel saving technology.
Volkswagen is ever mounting their TDI offerings for 2011 to include redesigned Golf. The TDI model standard feature consists of a premium touch-screen stereo system with 6 CD in-dash changer, satellite radio, and handsome three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel. The Blue motion technology consists of enhancements to a range of components of the car like the engine, body and tyres in order to make the car lighter, more aerodynamic and there by more fuel efficient.
Currently VW Golf being tested might only be for the sake of testing a new engine under the hood or for testing the appropriateness of Volkswagen’s Bluemotion technology for Indian road conditions. The likelihood of the Golf hitting Indian shores is very remote given the fact that the car, even if locally assembled, will be priced in the Indian market upwards of the Polo, there by reducing its chances of being a success in the crowded hatchback segment of the Indian car market.
The 2010-11 Golf TDI is the deluxe, safest, and most powerful Golf TDI that VW has offered. For 2011, the Golf is largely unchanged. Volkswagen has not released the 2011 Golf’s pricing yet, but the 2010 Golf begins at $17,620 for the 2-door, 2.5-liter engine, and the four-door TDI starts at $22,959.
About Volkswagen Golf and Current Volkswagen Golf
Volkswagen Golf (one of the pioneers in the small hatchback segment), has had a bit of a roller-coaster ride throughout its life. Volkswagen had a nostalgic feeling and renamed its economy car the Rabbit for the U.S. market, after selling three generations of the Golf to American buyers in 2006.
The Volkswagen Golf is a compact hatchback presented in a two- or four-door body style. The base Golf is powered by a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower. The Golf TDI model features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel that produces 140 hp and a robust 236 pound-feet of torque. Also the TDI trim adds alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, Bluetooth and an upgraded stereo with touch screen interface and an iPod interface. A navigation system and xenon headlamps are voluntary. EPA-estimated mutual fuel economy is an impressive 34 mpg. VW's six-speed dual-clutch automated manual (DSG) is elective and a six-speed manual is standard.
Also there is a high-performance version of the Golf called as the GTI and a closely allied sedan known as the Jetta.
