Chevrolet Captiva premium SUV is coming soon to India as the previous version of Chevrolet Captiva will be replaced with latest version of 2012 by its manufacturer, the General Motors India. 2012 Chevrolet Captiva comes with new powerful engine, updated interior to provide great comfort, chassis alteration to improve ride and many other advance features than its last version.

2012 Chevrolet Captiva has turbo-diesel variant 2.2L that gives 350 Nm of maximum torque and 163 bhp of maximum power and 189 km/hr top speed can be achieved. The users experience smooth and powerful ride as it runs on two petrol engines, 3.0L and 2.4L. The engines will be attached to either six-speed automatic that is most commonly seen on almost premium segment models or manual six-speed gearbox.

Interior has been updated to decrease the noise of road and engine on the move. Sound intensity of engine is reduced by 3db compared to current model as the engine is built with hydraulic engine mount. 2012 Chevrolet Captiva has an array of new finishes and textures including new seat fabrics with storage space and 5 or 7 seats option. Other features contain ice-blue back lighting and ‘wrap-round’ fascia design that flow into top sections of the driver’s front passenger doors, giving dual-cockpit look.

It has Bluetooth connectivity and Aux-in with commands incorporated on the steering wheel and USB port that provides 7 inch screen navigation system. Position of audio speakers have been changed in it and shifted in door so the sound quality can be increased. New Chevrolet Captiva holds liberal interior dimensions including 1036 mm leg room, 1026 mm headroom, 946 mm front at the rear. Noise of engine and wind has been decreased due to raft of engineering development to the interior acoustic.

New exterior sitting range of Captiva in center line between each grille is finished with a grained, gold surface and 10% larger than the current model. Concave and sculptured lines are included in new Chevrolet Captiva’s profile to make it more powerful. Cylindrical, housed inside the casings, prism-type lamps look high-end and up to date as the car receives all new aluminum hood.

More attention is given to the region around the front fog lamps in the lower section of the front bumper therefore fog lamp operates into skid plate and creates more united look. The chassis has autonomous four-link axle at the rear and McPherson suspension at the front.  

All the Captivas’ model gets alloy wheels with rugged five or six-spoke design. All four wheels are finished with inside ventilated disc brakes, 303 mm at the back side and 296 mm at the frontage. With purpose to improve the handling of the car, ABS and ESC is incorporated with wheel drive system. Vehicle control while driving is enhanced because ESC contains Descent Control System, Active Rollover Protection and Hydraulic Brake Assist. ABS software helps to lessen stopping distances on wet and slippery roads.

2012 Chevrolet Captiva premium SUV has been already launched in European market and it will hit the Indian market in 2012. But it is also anticipated by some people that it will come in India approximately in second half of 2011 year with price tag of 17.96 lakh that is 75,000 higher than the current model Chevrolet Captiva. No words have been revealed by the company yet regarding the launch date.
