Acer has come up with a new member of its ICONIA Android tablet family the Iconia Tab A200, which is packed with remarkable features with an equally good design. It has started shipping in selected countries. Initially Iconia A200 will come with Google's Android 3.2 "Honeycomb" OS while it will be available sporting ICS out-of-the-box starting in January 2012. Certainly, all early adopters of the device will even receive a free upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich when the second batch ships next month. Apart from the name and looks, the A200 is similar to the company’s original A500 Android tablet.
Acer Iconia Tab A200 features a 10.1 inch multi touch screen display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is powered by the well-known 1GHz, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. 1GB of RAM ought to keep things ticking over pretty well, whereas a front-facing 2 Megapixel Camera is onboard for video chatting. The device will feature a 3,260mAh battery (400 hours standby, 8 hours of video), measures 8.3mm thick and weighs 720g. There will be 2 versions of the tablet: Titanium Grey and Metallic Red.
The A200 comes pre-loaded with a number of software packs. Acer Ring UI function is the most noteworthy addition in the software department. The Acer Ring is a small, round pop-up menu that can rapidly boot up applications like Google Maps. When it comes to internal storage of device, it’ll be offered with internal storage options of 8 GB and 16 GB capacities, as well if you require more, then there is a micro-SD card slot to expand it further. It is a Wi-Fi only tablet so 3G is not added. As a connectivity option, it includes Bluetooth, DLNA, a full USB port to connect external drives plus other accessories like keyboard, etc. Also the tablet will have a few pre-installed apps from Acer including SocialJogger, which combines all updates from your friends on Facebook and Twitter. Either way, the device seems to be a good-looking tablet, with a pleasant form factor and a stunning display.
Pricing and availability:
No official word on the exact price and availability until now, but you can anticipate to see the tablet in retailers in different markets before Christmas. The price is expected to be around $ 400.
