American teens are texting more and it should not be surprise for anyone. However, it may be shocking news that how much time American teens do texting in a day. American teens do texting more than six times in an hour while they are not at school or awake, as per new research from The Nielsen Company which has examined teenage mobile-phone usage across the globe.

Nowadays, usage of smartphone has become very popular. However, teenagers may have to pay for their mobile internet, heavy reliance on email and also for texting. It seems that teens are permanently transfixed to their cell phones screen, thumbs working, and heads down.
To determine the texting habits of American teens, Nielsen studied mobile phone bills of teenagers. As per Neilsen’s report, the figure is increased up to 8% from last year. It underlines the increasing significance of texting for teens making the purchase of cellphone. Among the 43% of U.S. teens, one primary reason for the purchase of cell phone is to send text messages. Parents have different view about cell phones than those of teens. In 2008, parents bought cellphones to their children with the aim of safety of their children.
More than 32% of U.S. adults, 83% of American teenagers utilize highly developed data for their phones. China is the other country which has such a high penetration of data usage and is leading the way with 84% of Chinese youth.
The usage of voice has been lost in all this. Current year, voice usage has been fallen up to 14% among American teens, as per the Nielsen survey. On average, teen texts 646 minutes per month. As per the young generation, texting is more easy and fast way to connect than doing a phone call. Also, it is a fun way for them.
In U.S, about half of young generation has their own cell phones and smartphones are first choice among them. Among all American wireless subscribers, 28% have a smartphone, US teens have 5% higher the figure.
