Baisakhi or Vaisakhi is a festival of Punjabi, celebrated as the Sikh New Year and the origin of the Khalsa Panth. History of Baisakhi traces its origin from the Baisakhi Day celebrations of 1699 organized by the Tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh to form Khalsa - Brotherhood of Saint Soldiers to fight in opposition to monocracy and autocratic.

Origin of Baisakhi:

The origin of Baisakhi Festival, when the Aurungzeb, the Mughal ruler was publicly behead the ninth Sikh Guru named as Guru Teg Bahadur that was the beginning of Baisakhi Festival with the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur.

Guru Teg Bahadur was the ninth Guru. After his death, throne of Guru Teg Bahadur was handled by the son of Guru Teg Bahadur known as Guru Gobind Singh. He was the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. The wish of Guru gobind singh was to encourage and potency to sacrifice amid his followers. On March 30, 1699 at Keshgarh Sahib near Anandpur, Guru Gobind Singh called on the historic Baisakhi Day people attending worship of Sikhs to fulfill their dreams.

For the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh, thousands of people gathered and at that time Guru Gobind Singh came out of the tent carrying an unsheathed sword. A influential speech was given by Guru Gobind Singh to instill courage among fellowmen. At the end of the speech he said “that every great deed was preceded by equally great sacrifice and demanded that anyone prepared to give his life come forward”.
