Bharti Telecom, a Bharti Enterprises group company and one of the India’s leading telecom operators has announced its foray into the mobile business through its handset group firm, Beetel. Beetel mobile phones present a mixture of great design and technology with a range of 2G and 3G phones priced between Rs. 1750 to Rs. 7000 to leverage its brand trust in the telecom category and strong distribution network. In the first phase of the launch, Beetel mobile phones will be obtainable over 4000 outlets across Delhi, Haryana, UP & Uttaranchal, Rajasthan, Punjab and the seven North Eastern States; 400 service centers to offer strong after sales support. The recent range comprises of eight phones with many industry firsts highlighting Beetel’s strong consumer focus and understanding. By the end of the current fiscal, the Company plans to set up its presence across India. Beetel has very violent growth plans and have set an ambitious target of being amid the top five players in the next three years.

All the Beetel phones feature include dual SIM cards, FM radio, camera and long battery life. Individual phones boast of firsts like the first gaming QWERTY phone, triple SIM offering GSM+GSM+CDMA, the first phone to house a complete movie and a 3G phone with a remarkably well designed and easy user interface. Moreover, Beetel will offer several other features aimed at the youth ranging from famous social networking applications (Facebook and Nimbuzz) to partnering with Mobile commerce partner (NgPay), Mobile portal (Yahoo) Browser (Opera Mini) added with offers of free call and free SMS powered by Ibibo. Beetel customers will get a chance to make free calls and Short Messaging Services (SMS) through GPRS technology enabled by the phone through this exclusive tie up.

Sawhny said while asked whether the company plans to manufacture mobile phones at its existing services, "We are open to this," but did not elaborate on plans. At present, it will subcontract manufacturing operations.
