Take a look on the striking photos/pictures of BMW’s new electric Mini E scooter that carries a smartphone dock right into the cockpit, which acts as an ignition key.
BMW, German auto maker, is set to reveal a Mini branded electric scooters at the 2010 Paris Motor-show (2-17 October). BMW Mini E Scooter is an electric scooter, contains features that are factory installed connection within the dash, which offers biker to navigate himself/herself in smart-phone. When smart-phone is connected to Mini E scooter, it serves two functions in the BMW model. Its functions are it acts as biker’s ignition key to start the scooter and it offers an easy to use GPS system.
Biker will also enjoy its other features like hands free calling and the ability to listen to his/her iTunes playlists rather then the local radio stations, with its Bluetooth enabled bike helmet feature. A two-wheeled two-seater, the Mini Scooter E comes with its electric motor housed back with the rear wheel, charged at any old outlet using an on-board cable. When there are other Mini Scooter Es in the area, BMW's Mini app will even recognize as building on the cult Mini branding.
BMW's electric Mini E scooter comes with a nice small touch of catering for smart-phones that has the ability to navigate it into the cockpit right away to have it acts like an ignition key and easy-to-see GPS unit. BMW acts on an app that will help pinpoint the location of other nearby Mini E scooters; so you can easily start a biker gang.
At London Fashion Week, BMW showed a nice product leaving no doubt about the target audience. Scooter is designed in 3 versions:
- A double in the colors of the electric vehicle Mini-E
- Mod style British pop culture of the sixties
- Single for purists
Scooter has some attractive cool features. To start a scooter, Smartphone are inserted into the adapter and also serves to display and control mechanism. The place of the adapter is right in front and reconciliation with the GPS and use iTunes. The helmet will be built into the module Bluetooth, so you can make calls without taking your hands off the wheel. With an airbag there will be a prototype outfitted. Though, no precise manufacturing and selling plans for the product has been unveiled.
With introduction of the successful Mini hatchbacks, the new Mini E Scooter concept comes on the tenth anniversary of the BMW reboot of the Mini brand. BMW design boss Adrian van Hooydonk said, "The MINI Scooter E Concept is true to our brand values of distinctive design, intelligent functionality and customisation and builds further on these characteristics by combining driving pleasure with sustainable technology into the first two-wheel concept of its kind for MINI".
According to Wired, "Mini didn't offer any specs beyond saying the E-Scooter is powered by an electric motor and recharged from a wall socket. Instead of a key, the scooters start with a smartphone app. Sillier still, GPS software will alert you to other E-Scooter riders in the area and flash your headlights when you pass them." "Here we are at the beginning of what could possibly become another icon," said Mini's Adrian van Hooydonk, senior VP of of BMW group design, of the Mini Scooter E Concept line.
