The Chicago Air & Water Show takes place every summer for one weekend in August. For the event, more than 2 million people flock to the shores of Lake Michigan. In the United States, it is the oldest and largest free show of its type. Chicago air and water show 2010 will be held on Saturday, August 14, and Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The Chicago Air and Water Show takes place along the Lake Michigan lake front, from Fullerton Avenue to Oak Street Beach but North Avenue Beach is its main focal point. Admission for this event is free of charge.
CTA bus routes 151 or 156 are the Public Transports for getting to the Chicago Air and Water Show. The Chicago Air and Water Show rivals only Taste of Chicago as one of the biggest events of the summer. If people really want to drive, then they have to get there early, and can score a spot in the Lincoln Park Zoo/North Avenue Beach parking lot. The entrance to the lot is just west of Lake Shore Drive on Fullerton Avenue.
52nd annual and the largest free show of its kind in the United States will be started with a little star power at 11 a.m. Saturday, when with members of the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights, actor Vince Vaughn will perform a tandem jump and all are expected to land on North Avenue Beach. Members of both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force will bring some of the fastest and largest aircraft in operation. The Navy's Blue Angels and parachute team Leap Frogs are also scheduled to appear.
