Chingay Singapore Parade is Asia's Grandest Street and Floats Parade. Chingay is part of Singapores unique way of celebrating the lunar New Year. The name, 'Chingay', was invented from its phonetic Hokkien equivalent that means 'the art of costume and masquerade'.
Chingay Singapore Parade was started in 1973. It is a national festival of Singapore that began as a neighborhood parade and then it became a totally Chinese event. Now to be a grandest street and floats parade in Asia, the Parade has changed, showcasing the rich, vibrant multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan cultures of Singapore and exciting performances from overseas.
Generally the Parade helds during the period of Chinese New Year. Every year thousands of individuals, organizations, local international communities and private sectors in Singapore come together to take part in this grand and highly spectacular festival. Location: Full closure of Republic Boulevard and Raffles Avenue towards City, between Republic Avenue and Temasek Avenue. Event organizer will facilitate the accessibility to the Singapore Flyer during the closure.
