Many people suggest that eating chocolates can cause acne problem. However, this argument does not hold any truth. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate or normal chocolate are the types of chocolate. None of the chocolates cause any kind of acne. The myth that eating chocolates does not cause any kind of acne is tested and proved by many medical journals. For acne, chocolates are as safe as any other healthy food. Skin care experts concur that acne is not caused by any specific food, including French fries, candy, soda, or potato chips.
Causes of acne:
Acne caused by many reasons. Most young people will get acne when they gain puberty and it is quite normal. For such acne, no treatment is required. Genetics is also one of the reasons which determines the skin type and regulates its functions. The other reason is abnormal generation of hormones that creates oily skin and blocks the pores. On the skin surface, oil needs to come out and expands pimples to find its way. Oil also promotes bacteria and makes pimples and acne. None of these factors are triggered by the foods that people eat.
Eating greasy foods cause your skin to produce more oil and possibly it is the biggest myth of all. The greasy foods are not really good for health and they will not cause oily skin or produce pimples. Actually, hormonal changes within the body have the greatest impact on sebum production. Oily skin may also be hereditary and so if your parents have oily skin, you probably will too.
Avoid eating of a particular food, if it seems to cause more breakouts for you. However, also keep in mind that there is no direct link between any specific foods to the development of pimples. So, enjoy piece of chocolate or order of fries (in restraint, of course).
Conclusion:
A medical experiment was done by Dr. Natasha Cook of Unites states to prove this myth. According to this experiment, eating chocolate does not increase sebum production and thus do can cause oily skin. Chocolates were consumed for a week and sebum count was recorded before and after chocolate diet. It was clearly proved by research that there was hardly any increase in sebum production.
