The DeZir : Renault's Electric Sports Car

FaceBookTwitter

DeZir is a Electric sport car innovated by Renault. This car is all-electric sedan which will be come into existence in the market at 2010 all-electric and lives up to its ‘comfort’, ‘luxurious’ and 'warm' design requirements. The dazzling red paint and curved body gives eye-catching look French design flare and promises a willingness to perform.

A 24 kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack provides 100 miles (162km) driving range, with a quick drop-out mechanism to exchange a fresh battery if you are really in a rush. Recharging from a household socket takes 8 hours, or fast charge using a 400V supply gives 80% capacity in only 20 minutes.

Renault has provided a preview momentary look of its new concept car called DeZir, in this year at Paris Motor Show. DeZir stands out as an illustration of the brand's commitment to more emotional styling. DeZir's sensuous lines and bright red finish express passion. Powered by an electric motor, DeZir will prove that environmental concern and a love for cars are by no means incompatible.

A new strategy: 'the life cycle'

The vision of the car builds the bonds which are gradually amplified between the brand and its customers at watershed moments of their lives, such as when they fall in love, start to explore the world, found a family, begin to work, take time to play and attain wisdom. Renault's Design Department is stimulated under the guidance of Laurens van den Acker.

Under the guidance of Laurens van den Acker, Renault's Design Department has taken its inspiration from the brand's new signature Drive the Change and discovers Renault's styling roots to express the company's powerful human dimension via a new strategy founded on the notion of 'the life cycle'. Renault's concept cars will progressively stay in the market for longer time.

Draft of DeZir

Front and features of DeZir is of full-width air-intake which strikes out either side of a large, vertically positioned Renault logo that proudly displays the car's brand pedigree.

In the interim, the chrome finish of the diamond-shaped logo contrasts with the dark feature of the grille to express the statement still further. The front-end design gives the new identity that is poised to become a feature of all Renault models in the future.

The materials used for the interior are too expensive with white leather upholstery and trimming for the seats, dashboard and floor, with a red lacquered finish for the console and accessories.

The one-piece, two-seater front bench seat provides cocoon-like comfort. To emphasis the sensation of a shared passion and lightness, it comprises a number of interlocking elements decorated in white leather, with a quilted pattern on the passenger's side, and a contrasting uniform finish on the driver's side, as if to suggest an inexorable attraction between the two.

An electric and sporty coupé

The source of inspiration stemmed from the liquid sensation, wave-like movement and contrasts in light associated with certain rippled surfaces Yann Jarsalle, designer in charge of exterior styling.

In order to increase the range and energetic performance, Renault Design's technical teams have kept minimum weight of DeZir. Its body is made from Kevlar, while its tubular steel frame is equivalent to that used for Mégane Trophy race car. Following are the features of the DeZir including a double wishbone arrangement – to deliver a particularly high standard of handling precision.
