A man eating 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes
The world record for competitive hot dog eating has been broken in the US by Joey Chestnut, a 25 years old Californian man. He ate 68 hot dogs in just 10 minutes at the annual 4 July contest at Coney Island in New York and he broke his own old record of 66 and it was his third straight title in a row. The hot dog competition is an Independence Day tradition in US.
There was a tough competition in this year contest between American Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi of Japan. In the competition Takeru ate 64 and a half. Joey Chestnut defeated Takeru Kobayashi- six-time titleholder from Japan- in the food competition to retain the title at Nathan's Famous 4th of July International Hot Dog Eating.
His other world records were eating 5kg of macaroni and cheese in 7 minutes, 188 jalapeno peppers in 10 minutes, 9.8 pounds of pork rib meat in 12 minutes, 182 chicken wings in 30 minutes and drinking 8 pints of milk in one minute.
Chestnut takes home $20,000 (£12,250) in prize money and the coveted Mustard Belt after winning the contest. He is currently at number one in the world by the International Federation of Competitive Eating and he has achieved many other feats in the past.
