Now the users of Facebook can easily customize what they like to appear in their news feed and what they don’t as Facebook has launched its brand new feature known as Subscribe Button. Subscribe Button is creating a lot of buzz that launched on 14th September. This new feature let the users to follow publicly visible updates of famous people without having to become “friends” on the site. Subscribe Button is like Follow button of Twitter and Circles on Google+. Subscribe button will appear beside the “Poke” and “Message” button on your Facebook profile only if you allow subscribers.
There are 3 main functions of this “Subscribe Button”. 1st function of this button is you can choose what you like to see from people in your news feed such as only important updates, particular friend's updates or most of their updates. You can also choose what type of content you like to get displayed like games, photos or nothing at all. 2nd function of this button is you can decide what you want to hear from people although you are not friends. 3rd function of this button is that you can allow the people to hear from you without becoming friends.
To allow subscriptions to your account, visit your profile and click on the Subscriptions tab which is located on the left side of the profile page. Then press the “Allow Subscribers” icon. Once you allow subscribers, you will see settings dialogue where you can select who can comment on your public posts and what notifications you want to get about new subscribers. You can also allow subscriptions to your account by visiting www.facebook.com/about/subscriptions and clicking on “Allow Subscribers” button.
People who want to follow you can become your subscriber by clicking “subscribe” button on your profile and if you want to become someone’s subscriber you have to do the same process. After becoming the subscriber anyone can see anybody’s public updates in their News Feed. The subscribers can see anything that you post on Facebook but you can decide with whom you like to share the posted thing. You can share the things publicly with all the friends or with limited people.
You can also see the people who are subscribed to you. Just click the Subscribers button of your profile. There will be 2 types of Subscribers: Friend and Public. You can block any particular subscriber if you don’t want that particular person to subscribe you. People can also comment on and like your public updates if you have selected let subscribers to comment on your updates. There is no limit to have subscribers but you can subscribe only 5000 people. To unsubscribe yourself from someone, click the report link beside a post that appear in your News Feed and select Unsubscribe or visit his/her profile and click Unsubscribe by hovering the mouse over the Subscribed button.
You should create a page, if you want to represent your brand, business or product on Facebook otherwise allowing subscribers is a good choice if you just want to share updates with other people. Subscribe button is completely optional. People who don’t want this feature in their profile can opt not to subscribe to anyone. They can also select disable Subscribe button on their profile if they don’t want to add any subscribers.
