Farm Aid is a nonprofit organization that works to increase awareness of the importance of family farms, and puts on an annual concert of country, blues and rock music with a variety of stars. The organization’s board includes Nelson, Mellencamp, Neil Young, and Dave Matthews.

The first Farm Aid concert was held on September 22, 1985 in Champaign, Illinois at Memorial Stadium. Willie Nelson, the president of Farm Aid said in statement "In 1985, we started out to save the family farmer. Now it looks like the family farmer is going to save us," "As our nation continues to endure an historic economic downturn, America's family farmers offer us much hope."

Now, the organization is going to held 25th anniversary concert which has the theme of "Growing Hope for America." Farm Aid has held almost annual concerts across the United States, for the past 25 years, this year's event will take place at a ballpark for the first time in its lengthy history.

This is the first time Farm Aid will be held in Wisconsin. Farm Aid Director, Carolyn Mugar, said the Badger State was selected because of its strong agricultural tradition. “Right now I’m standing in Miller Park, which is home to the Milwaukee Brewers. And it’s gonna be a home run for Farm Aid.”

To keep this event going for 25 years John Mellencamp gives credit to Willie Nelson “I’m very proud of Willie and proud to have the concert back in Milwaukee.” Mellencamp said “Nelson deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for keeping such an event going for 25 years.”

Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Jason Marz, Jeff Tweedy, Band of Horses, The BoDeans, Amos Lee and Francis will join the Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Mattews at Farm Aid 25.
