Yoga, exercising & stretching sound counter-intuitive, perhaps, but by disbursing energy on a regular basis, you will really give yourself more of it in the end. To get into the natural rhythm, it may take a couple of weeks. Walking and stretching, both are beneficial in body renaissance.

Water Drinking for Health:

Keep your body well hydrated throughout the day to maintain your energy levels. 70% part of the body is made up of water and reductions in fluid levels can cause lethargy. Fatigue is the first sign of dehydration. Simply by drinking water, you can increase your energy as it is the best way to boost energy. When the water level in your body is depleted, your body reacts by yawning. So, keep drinking water until you feel energized.  Drink 4 or 5 glasses of water to keep energy levels up, you may have to take some extra bathroom breaks, but it’s the absolute best method to increase your energy.

Many people have noticed that their energy level starts falling off during mid morning. In the morning, taking of the best breakfast combined of complex carbohydrates (whole grains) with lean proteins (eggs, cheese) may be helpful. You don't have to eat first thing in the morning if it's not your thing. An apple or oatmeal bars are healthy foods for the satisfaction of hunger pains.

Eat smaller meals:

Every time you eat, you burn calories and so more energy is required to keep energy levels up. Consume small snacks in between meals such as fruit slices (with peanut butter if you’re feeling run down), vegetable sticks, granola, oatmeal, or a hand full of low fat cookies like animal crackers, vanilla wafers, or ginger snaps. With the boosting effect on your metabolism, it also helps to manage your weight. Avoid getting overly hungry, as it can lead to devastating food later on.

Protein:

When body feels lack of protein, it will break down lean muscle. Chicken, fish, beans, cheese, eggs, soy milk (which is delicious by the way), yogurt, cheese, health shakes, energy bars, or lean beef are good sources of protein. Extra energy is required to digest the protein and this will boost energy of the body and increase metabolism.

Improve Sleeping Habits:

Lack of sleep can interfere with metabolism of the body. Those people, who don’t take proper sleep, seem to have hormone changes that negatively affect their appetite. Also, a small adjustment of your sleeping habits can already do speculates for your energy levels.

  • Rise and Shine: Put an alarm and get up at the same time everyday.
  • Sleepy at Noon: Try a powernap of 20 minutes in a quiet place.
  • Lying in bed is not sleeping: Don’t go to bed if you not sleepy and end up lying in bed meditative and stressing. Go to the bed only when you are wandering off at the computer, reading, or watching TV.

People who take less sleep tend to eat more. As your body weight is increased, you become more lethargic.

Foods that are recommended for healthy eating, includes:

  • Salad stuff such as peppers, celery, raw carrots, radishes, tomatoes, avocados
  • Green leafy veg such as broccoli, spinach, rocket, mixed salad leaves
  • Legumes such as lentils, kidney beans, soya
  • Oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, herrings, sardines
  • Nuts - especially walnuts - and seeds
  • Olive and walnut oils
  • Whole grains
  • Fresh fruits such as apples, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, grapes
