You have decided on the different feature of your three-layer fake fondant cake. First think about the colors and shapes which will be added to decorate the cake. If you are new at cake decorating, purchase small cookie cutters to make fondant shapes, it will be give your cake a professional look. Rolled fondant includes gelatin and food-grade glycerin, which keep the sugar pliable and creates a dough-like consistency. It can also be made using powdered sugar and melted marshmallows. Roll out the cake fondant make sure the fondant is sticky. Sprinkle your working surface with cornstarch and then rub some on the rolling pin and your fingers. You should rolling fondant from the center outwards, forming a circle that must ¼-inch thick. The circle should be large enough to cover the complete cake form, as well as several inches.

If you are making an odd-shaped fake fondant cake, you can cut your fake cake pieces from sheets of Styrofoam, which can be purchased at a craft store. If you are making a fake fondant wedding cake and want the bride and groom to display the tradition of feeding each other a piece of cake, cut a wedge out of the Styrofoam and replace it with actual wedding cake. Mark on the fondant with a sharp knife so they will know where to cut. Dried fondant can be kept indefinitely without spoiling. Colored fondant can be purchased in 2-pound tubs.
