The subsidiary company of Coras Iompair Eireann (owned by the Irish Government) is Dublin Bus. Dublin Bus provides a wide range of bus services like Xpresso, Nitelink, Railink, Radial, Cross City, Orbital, DART Feeder, Airport Services, Schoolink and Sightseeing tours. Huge majority of bus services are operated by the Dublin Bus in Dublin. But nowadays, Department of Transport provides licenses to the other companies for transports to operate in Dublin. Approximately, 3692 members are working under this company. Dublin Bus provides many types of pre-paid tickets like single day and multi-day tickets, tickets corresponding to cash fares, 90 minute tickets, etc. These all tickets you can buy from the machine available on door of the bus at the start of each journey. For the aged person, they provide "Free Travel Pass" system, which is operated by the Department of Social and Family Affairs.

Dublin Bus also provides time table for their all buses. If you want to find the timetable of the buses, then for that, you have to fill "Search by Place" or "Search by Route" option and then click on ‘Submit’ button. You can also click on the particular route for timetable on this page. You can also see the bus stops on Google map. Dublin Bus offers different types of tour with the live commentary by their knowledgeable tour guides. They also provide you ‘Tickets Thursdays’ which is especially for the Thursday tour. How to use bus service?

Open the homepage, and click on the option How to use the bus? under the navigation Tourist Information available on the top of page.

Step 1: You will get your bus at the bus stops or bus shelters. It is advisable to stand in a queue. If you want to stop the bus, then put your hands out to tell the driver. Stand well to avoid the side mirrors on the bus as the bus leaves the stop. You can catch your bus by destination and route number which is on the front scroll. If you want to low the speed of the bus or want to use ramp then ask driver. While the bus is kneeling or the ramp is being lowered, you will hear bell/buzzer. It is dangerous to enter or leave the bus from the side of the ramp. If you are paying ticket money with coin, then enter in the bus on the left hand side and prepaid ticket passengers can enter in the bus on the right hand side.

Step 2: After getting into the bus, you have to tell the driver that where you want to go. You have to pay fare to the driver only; the driver cannot accept euro notes or give change except in Airlink routes 747/748. Insert your coin in the automatic fare machine which is kept in the front of the driver. For inspection, you have to keep the ticket. Driver will provide you a change receipt, if you do not have correct coins for your fare. You can collect your change at Dublin Bus Head Office, 59 Upper O’Connell Street, Dublin 1. Passengers of the magnetic prepaid ticket have to insert their card into the magnetic bus validator. You have to hold your prepaid Smartcard ticket on the Smartcard reader for at least a second or awaiting a light appears. Free Travel Pass passengers can show their card to the driver.

Step 3: Please sit on the seat if seats are available. In case, seats are not available downstairs please check upstairs. If you want to stand then please hold a handrail. It is advisable that not to cross the white line when bus is moving. Pets are not allowed in the bus. Take care of your infants or children.

Step 4: Please check your luggage before leaving the bus. Get off safely when bus stops. Until the bus has completed the kneeling operation or the ramp, you have to wait for sometime. Have a wonderful journey. You have to go down cautiously, when the bus stops or you have to ask driver to kneel the bus or to operate the ramp.
