According to the website ServiceMagic.com, usually Toilet clogs take place due to built-up tissue paper or when stray children's toys fall into the toilet and become stuck. If you don't have a plunger handy then don’t be panic because here are other remedies to fix your blocked toilet so it will once again flow smoothly.
Below read few ways by which you can unblock your toilet using a few items you may already have in the home before you pick up the phone.
First of all, make sure nobody uses the toilet.
Instructions - Things you will need:
- Liquid dish soap
- Wire coat hanger
- Paper towels
Method one:
Put paper towels around the toilet bowl base to absorb any excess water while you are attempting to unblock the toilet.
Pour liquid dish soap, approximately 1/2 cup into the blocked toilet bowl. On your stove, heat a large pot of water on medium heat. Add as much to the toilet bowl as possible without causing an overflow when the water comes to a boil. Whatever is clogging the toilet, the weight of the water and soap should force down. Repeat the process if you see minimal improvement.
Loosen a wire coat hanger and string it down into the toilet. Then turn it clockwise to snake it down through the plumbing. Until the toilet flushes normally continue this process. Hanger should be pulled out and checked to see if it brings out whatever was clogging the toilet along with it. Arrange the hanger and any debris.
Put on a pair of shoes. While using your foot to tap on the toilet bowl, flush the toilet. Use gently, yet firm pressure, don’t kick the toilet bowl too hard. Against the toilet bowl, continue to tap your foot until the block clears.
Method two:
You need a Vileda mop and a plastic bag.
Put the mop inside the bag and tie the bag securely to the mop. If you don't have any rubber gloves, then grab an extra plastic bag wear rubber gloves while doing this.
Until the toilet empties, plunge the toilet a few times. Your toilet should now be unblocked. Remove the plastic bag and throw. Put your hands inside the extra plastic bag and remove the bag from the mop if you are not using gloves. To keep the bag from dripping everywhere and toss it out, pull the bag you have your hands inside in. Then, pat yourself on the back.
You can try the method using your toilet brush or duster, if you don’t have a Vileda mop. Then wrap them with the plastic bag.
Method three:
If you have a toilet brush then try plunging the toilet with that until it unblocks. And if this method does not work then go to the hardware store and shop a plunger. It may be serious if plunger doesn't work and you need to call a handyman. Remember to try the first step first, before attempting anything else, and please remember to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.
