HP Veer Smartphone has been unveiled recently by HP at its WebOS event, “Think Beyond” including other two products the HP Pre3 and the HP TouchPad tablet. The HP Veer is a miniature touch smartphone with a footprint about that of a credit card and similar to a deck of cards. It has a full sliding QWERTY keyboard and runs webOS 2.2. Jon Rubenstein (senior vice president and general manager of Palm Global Business Unit, HP) introduced the new tablet HP Veer to the crowd at the HP event by saying that when everyone is trying to make bigger smartphones, “HP is thinking beyond by thinking small.” The Veer has a 2.6-inch screen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7230 800MHz processor, weighs 103 grams (3.63 ounces), 320 x 400 pixel touchscreen that acts as a gesture area for navigation and shows 18 bit color, other general features such as GPS, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and supports Adobe Flash. Its dimension is just 54.5 mm x 84.0 mm x 15.1 mm.
The new HP phone has 8GB of internal storage (unhappily, no microSD card slot), a 5-megapixel back camera, supports video recording and playback, and geo tagging and even a standard 3.5mm audio jack. It also supports Microsoft Exchange server emails, and personal e-mail clients like Gmail push, Yahoo!, POP3 and IMAP. When HP Veer will be released, it will come in Tri-band UMTS and quad-band GSM/EDGE world phone assortments.
