Hugo Chavez is well known for hours-long speeches. He decides to use Twitter, the micro-blogging site to answer his opponents online. His profile name on Twitter is chavezcandanga that combines his own name with the word "Candanga," which is used to refer to someone naughty or wild in Venezuela.
Twitter is social networking and micro-blogging service which allows user to post their latest updates with limitation of 140 characters. Updates can be posted through three methods 1) web form 2) text message and 3) instant message.

To more than 200,000 active accounts in Venezuela, an explosive rise in usage has being seen by Twitter. Hugo Chavez is the president of Venezuela. In 1998, he was elected democratically assumed office in 1999. He is a main detractor of American foreign policy and globalization.
On April 17, 2009, at the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago Venezuelan media reported that Hugo Chavez shook hands with U.S. President Barack Obama, and said, "I'd like to be your friend."Barack Obama has over 3.7 million followers on Twitter and ranks among the top 5 most-followed Twitter accounts in the world.
In some time this year, to fight back against detractors Hugo Chavez has ordered his followers use Twitter, social networking sites and other Internet media. He advised Venezuelans to watch his newly created account on @chavezcandanga on www.twitter.com after midnight Tuesday.
Hugo Chavez’s first tweet in Spanish popped up at 14 minutes after midnight. “Hey how's it going? I appeared like I said I would: at midnight. I'm off to Brazil. And very happy to work for Venezuela we will be victorious!” Before posting his single tweet, Hugo Chavez had more than 18,000 followers by late Tuesday and on early Wednesday that increased to over 23,000.
