The 2010 Academy Awards was held on Sunday at Hollywood section of Los Angeles. Many of you are searching for the news of Academy Awards, nominees, and more. “The Hurt Locker” won the Best Film Award.

The best picture and five other prizes were won by The Iraq War drama "The Hurt Locker" at the Academy Awards, its haul including best director for Kathryn Bigelow.

The 58-year-old director Bigelow, who is the first woman in the 82-year history of the Oscars to earn Hollywood's top prize for filmmakers told that “There's no other way to describe it. It's the moment of a lifetime," "It's so extraordinary to be in the company of my fellow nominees, such powerful filmmakers, who have inspired me and I have admired, some of them for decades. And thank you to every member of the Academy. This is, again, the moment of a lifetime.”

“The Hurt Locker” is a low-budged Iraq war drama movie beat out Avatar. The Hurt Locker directed by Kathryn Bigelow. There were total eight nominees but the Hurt Locker beat the other nominees and won the Award. “The Hurt Locker” won total six awards including Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture.

Bigelow also thanked writer Mark Boal, who picked up an Oscar former in the night for original screenplay, for bringing the story to life.
She said that "I would just like to dedicate this to the woman and men in the military who risk their lives on a daily basis … May they come home safe."

Bigelow puts an end to the rivalry between herself and her ex-husband James Cameron by winning this award. James Cameron whose big-budget film “Avatar” took three awards in the earlier evening for cinematography, visual effects and for art direction.

Kathryn Bigelow was the fourth Lady who nominated for the prize, following Lina Wertmuller for 1975's "Seven Beauties", "Jane Campion for 1993's "The Piano" and Sofia Coppola for 2003's "Lost in Translation". In the Academy Awards, Bigelow was the front runner heading.

The category presented on the stage by Barbra Streisand who is the director of films including "Yentl" and "The Prince of Tides. After coming on stage Barbra Streisand said that "Well, the time has come," And Bigelow and “The Hurt Locker” beat out “Avatar” by James Cameron. From 1989 to 1991, Cameron and Bigelon were married.

James Cameron was seated right after Bigelow at the Oscars and also he joined a standing praise for her, clapping energetically and saying, "Yes, yes," after she won.
