The long wait of IPL lovers is now over because, 2010 IPL Season 3 Opening ceremony will be held on 12th March 2010, at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. On Friday, 27th February, 2010, IPL Chairman Lalit Modi announced the venue for the events which has been shifted to Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil stadium from Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International stadium. He also said that, after the opening ceremony Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders will play first IPL match at 8:00 pm. The IPL will be played over 45 days across India and feature 60 games.
According to the source, Lalit Modi said about opening ceremony, ‘Mumbai is a good venue considering it has all the infrastructure required to host the event. We have had a great experience at the DY Patil stadium last year. The ground can be easily accessed by road and helicopter services are also available and Hotels are located close to the ground.'
First, Lalit modi announced the IPL Opening ceremony held on Hyderabad in Telangana state, but he said there is a political issue running strong in Andhra Pradesh over the Telangana, and he doesn’t want to take any risk, so they have shifted the IPL 2010 opening ceremony to Mumbai. Lalit Modi also announced that, the IPL opening dinner will be held on March 11th, 2010 in Mumbai.
