It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is the third prime time animated television special telecasted on 28 October, 2010 at 8 p.m. on ABC Television Network. Inspiration is taken from the late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz’s the comic strip Peanuts to make TV series “It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”.
Bill Melendez produced and animated the first Halloween special, “It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”. Lee Mendelson is executive producer of it. With Spanish audio, the program aired through SAP. Music in it was composed by Vince Guaraldi. It was first telecasted on 27 October 1966 on CBS. The special annually was re-aired by CBS in 2000 but the rights of this series were taken by ABC in 2001.
The classic animated Halloween-themed PEANUTS special “It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” was nominated for an Emmy award. “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” entitled book was published in 2006 to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Warner Home Video released a Remastered Deluxe Edition of it on 2 September 2008 with the bonus feature “It's Magic, Charlie Brown” that was released in 1981.
Peter Robbins (Charlie Brown) and Christopher Shea (Linus) were the cast members of “It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” in 1966. In that series, Charlie Brown was invited to a Halloween party and the PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, The Great Pumpkin will visit at him. Sally Dryer as Lucy, Chris Doran as Schroeder, Bill Melendez as Snoopy, Kathy Steinberg as Sally, Tracy Stratford as Violet and Ann Altieri as Frieda are also the cast of it in 1966.
