  • Alappuzha Backwaters: It is one of the best ports in Malabar Coast and popularly called the 'Venice of the East'.
  • Kasargod Backwaters: It is a captivating backwater destination in Kerala. It offers two of the important backwater cruises, namely, Chandragiri and Valiyaparamba.
  • Kollam Backwaters: It is the entry and exit spot to the backwaters in Kerala. It offers an eight-hour long navigation onboard from Kollam to Alappuzha.
  • Kottayam Backwaters: Kottayam Backwater an overnight trip passing through the legendary Punnamada Lake.
  • Kumarakom Backwaters: The backwater sojourn that begins at Alappuzha concludes at Kumarakom. It treats your eyes as cruise due to the colorful sight of various water birds, white lilies and lotuses.
  • Thiruvallam Backwaters: Thiruvallam lies at the confluence of the two rivers, the Killi and the Karamana.

Coconut is the most grown tree in Kerala. The coconut tree grows to a height of 25 m. Every part of the coconut tree is used in various ways. The trunk of the coconut tree is used for its wood to make beams in traditional houses and the coconut leaves are used to thatch houses and knit mats, baskets and other useful household items. The husk of the coconut is used to produce coir, which is woven into ropes, doormats and furnishing material. Every part of the coconut tree is place to some use. Coconuts trees in Kerala are beautiful part of the landscape as well as an essential element in Kerala cookery.

Churches of Kerala:

An oriental religion in Kerala is Christianity. It is believed that St. Thomas established Churches in seven places in Kerala - (Kodungallore, Palayur, Paravur, Kokkamangalam, Niranam, Chayal, Korakkeni, Kollam) and a chappal(half church -"Arappalli") at Thiruvankottu. The Churches of Kerala are major tourist attractions of the state. The Christian art and architecture marks a musical mingle of the East and the West.

Ecotourism in kerala:

Marketing the peaceful natural habitats as tourism 'product' with an inbuilt element of nature education is the primarily mean of Ecotourism. The aim of Ecotourism is making the visitor aware of the protective, productive and regulatory functions of the forests.

  • Agasthyavanam Biological Park (ABP): The peak looms over the park in regal wist-wrapped splendour. A major center for conservation and nature education, it offers recreational facilities such as hiking in the wilderness, videography and bird watching.
  • Arippa: Basically, it is a forest officers training center and it offers excellent opportunities for trekking bird watching, photography, and living with nature in the evergreen and semi evergreen forests.
  • Kulathupuzha, aryankavu, achencoil – palaruvi water falls: kulathupuzha is famous for the temple of Lord Ayyappa. The temple at Kulathupuzha, Aryankavu, and Achencoil, attracts many Ayyappa devotees. The perennial waterfall at Palaruvi, near Aryankavu attracts a lot of visitors.
  • Konni: A major center of forest activities in Pathanamthitta District, Konni elephant Kraal used for training wild elephants is the major attraction.
  • Pamba: Pampa, on way to Sabarimala temple, Kochu pampa, is also tourist destination endowed with the sylvan beauty.
  • Kumarakom: Backwater cruise in the houseboat is an attraction.
  • Mangalavanam: A green belt located in the heart of Eranakulam city, adjoining the backwaters and the sea.
  • Athirappally: A popular picnic spot and water falls of the Sholayar Ranges of the Vazhachal Forest Division.

Wild life in Kerala:

Wild life tours are the major tourist activities that can be undertaken in the wild life parks. In wild life tour one can really feel the smell of an Elephant in these tours. Elephant rides, staying at jungle lodges, tree houses, fishing camps etc. are other facilities available in wild life. Guides are available in the Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary for treks in the forest.

  • Eravikulam National Park: Especially for the preservation of Nilgiri Tahr
  • National Park: contains India’s last substantial stretch of tropical evergreen rain forests
  • Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary: It has one of the largest populations of gaur (bison).
  • Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary: The sanctuary offers a lovely and comfortable way to see the animals via boat rides on the man-made lake, which the wildlife areas encircle.
  • Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary: Formed between the branches of River Periyar. The rivers are rich in fishlife and are shallow for most of the year.

I love to visit kerala. This the best place to send some quality time with friends, family. In kerala periyar wildlife sanctuary is my favorite place to visit. Set high in the ranges of the Western Ghats of Kerala is the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve. The sanctuary covers an area of 777 km square, out of which a 350 km square part of the core zone was made into the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve. The park is often referred to as Thekkady.
