American folk rock artist, Lissie Maurus is mostly famous by her stage name Lissie. Lissie announced her first full headline UK 2010 Tour and Tickets on stereoboard.com. In this current year she debut her new album named “Catching a Tiger” on 21st June.
She was born in 1982 at Rock Island, Illinois and she started her music career from her native place. Her career highlights include her performing on Later with Jools Holland & GMTV, dueling onstage with Ellie Goulding, triumphantly winning over the SXSW festival with an unfathomable 10 shows in 4 days, championed by as broad a media spectrum as you could possibly imagine from single of the week in The Sun, raved about by US gossip mogul Perez Hilton who witnessed one of her Austin SXSW performances and has swooned over her voice ever since, and praised by the likes of Q, Clash, Uncut, The Sun, Sunday Times, Big Issue, Daily Mirror and playlisted across UK radio to name but a few places. Presently, Lissie resides in Ojai, California.
At the age of nine, she played the title role of the musical Annie. She spent two years at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, that time she would open for musicians who visited the city. She joined DJ Harry of SCI Fidelity Records on a song "All My Life" that was featured on television shows House, The O.C., Veronica Mars and Wildfire. Then she completed her study and pursued a career in music. In November 2009, her debut EP "Why You Runnin”, produced by Bill Reynolds of Band of Horses was released on Fat Possum.
Lissie goes on to tread the boards across the nation's live venues. Recently, she has completed a series of dates as special guest to Joshua Radin, City & Colour and Local Natives and headline tour of the UK with Alan Pownall, Lissie. Now she has declared a full program of touring continuing throughout the summer and that also includes a sold out show at London's ICA on July 28th.
Lissie won the hearts of many with her four successful Glastonbury appearances and her latest slot at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park. She has advance confirmed festival appearances at Bestival, Latitude, Camp Bestival, Summer Sundae, Secret Garden Party, T in The Park, Oxegen, Cambridge Folk Festival & V festival still to come, alongside dates in the US as part of the important Lilith Fair Tour and at Austin City Limits festival.
She has risen online for her more than million plays at YouTube because of her fans have exposed her charms with some spectacular cover versions. That started with her take on Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters' for the Dermot session and has since taken in Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance' & Kid Cudi's 'Pursuit Of Happiness' along the way to rave response, showing the versatility and depth of that voice that has also seen her pick up praise and support from a broad range of artists, from Courtney Love, Katy Perry, Mumford & Sons to Ellie Goulding. Now her next single 'Cuckoo' is released on August 30th on Columbia Records.
