On January 6, 1926, the company was established in Berlin. It is the result of a combination between "Deutsche Aero Lloyd" (DAL) and "Junkers Luftverkehr". Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft was the original name of the company. Since 1933, the company is known as one word Lufthansa. An agreement was done to authorize an air service between the two countries by Deutsche Luft Hansa, on behalf of the German government with the Spanish government On December 9, 1927.
