Mahindra, the leading SUV manufacturer and auto maker, will mark debut into competitive motorcycle industry. With the eagerly anticipated launch of two new motorcycles, Mahindra will formally debut into bike segment. A 300cc bike will be initially launched by Mahindra to build its brand which will be followed by a 125cc bike. A teaser ad for its performance bike has been already released by Mahindra Company. The bike is first tested on 13 September 2010, in Vallelunga Moto GP race track in Rome, Italy, then coming to India. Final touches are being given by Mahindra to its marketing initiatives that point out the launch of 300cc bike is very much round its corner.

The 125cc motorcycle of Mahindra will follow the Mahindra muscular DNA. 300cc engine coupled to a six speed transmission and power output upwards of 20bhp. With inverted front forks and a radiator, the bike looks thorough track tool. In 2008, Mahindra Group acquired Bologna based Engines Engineering, a boutique design house. Mahindra 2 Wheelers’ motorcycles incorporate design elements are taken from the Engines Engineering. Design work is also undertaken by Engines Engineering for companies such as Ducati, MV Augusta and Benelli.

Mahindra to launch its most awaited bikes Mahindra Cevalo and Mahindra Diablo in India soon. An entry level bike, Mahindar Cevalo comes with advance technology of Mahindra and latest striking features. The bike contains sporty look with displacement of 125cc, SOHC, 4 valve, air cooled, and fuel injected engine which produces maximum power of 15bhp. Black colored alloy wheels are in this bike with single disc brake system, which promise rider for a safety ride even on bump roads, and stylish short wind sheet has fitted on the front mask.

Mahindra Cevalo contains semi digital console, which is loaded with techo meter, speedometer, indicators light and gearshift indicator light. Mahindar Cevalo contains comfortable seating arrangement for two riders that gives them smooth and comfortable ride even on long roads. It will accessible for riders in both kick and self start options and for hassle free ride, it contains noise less silencer. Both suspensions like front and rear are strong, which makes it more comfortable.

The specific output of 125cc motorcycle is 424 hp per litre and the maximum speed of this motorcycle is 245 kmph. The front and rear brakes were brembo mono discs. The bike was shod with 17 inch wheels. The fuel tank capacity is 13.5 litres and the bike’s size, as per the catalogue displayed is 1850 mm in overall length, 1050 mm in overall height, 730 mm saddle height, 495 mm overall width and 1245 mm wheel base. This bike is actually the ‘Engine Engineering’ designed MotoGP 125 cc race motorcycle which has been very successful in the 125 cc segment of Moto GP. The bike design looks similar to Yamaha FZ. Cevalo features a digital speedometer, LED tail lamps, split seats, monoshocks, disc brakes, sporty riding position, naked chain sprocket, fat tyres and large-sized muffler. But, in order to keep the price in check, Mahindra may shed a few features.

Mahindra Diablo will launch with the engine capacity of 300cc. It comes with advanced technology and features. With one step seating arrangement for two persons, the braking system in this bike is expected to be very powerful that gives smooth and comfortable ride even on long road but more information is not revealed yet. Mahindra 2wheeler compete with Hero Honda, Honda, Bajaj Auto, TVS and Suzuki with both the latest bikes. It is expected that Mahindra's both bikes will definitely create a new history.

“The company intends to add motorbikes ranging from low-cost entry models to premium products,” Anoop Mathur, the head of Mahindra’s two-wheeler business, said in an interview at the company’s Mumbai headquarters. He declined to elaborate further on the product plan. “The two-wheeler unit aims to break even next fiscal year and to become as large as Mahindra’s tractor and sport-utility vehicle businesses within seven years,” Mathur said, “India’s largest maker of tractors and SUVs began making scooters in 2008 after buying Kinetic Motor Co. to boost sales in a country where two-wheelers outsell cars about than five-to-one.” It is expected to be available between Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000.
