Recently, Indian mobile handsets company Micromax has launched lightest touchscreen Smartphone "Modu T" in an exclusive partnership with Israel-based Modu Limited. As Modu T is the the world’s lightest touchscreen phone having weight just 55g, Micromax Modu T holds a place in the record books of the prestigious Guinness World Record. Micromax Modu T is powered by the Qualcomm BREW operating system.

A very compact touchscreen mobile phone, Micromax Modu T features a 2.2-inch touch screen display, a pre bundled 2GB memory card which is extensible up to 32 GB. The Modu T phone enables users to personalize their mobile experience in an easy and affordable way. Also, the phone has functionalities and applications for web access and instant messaging, direct links to different social networks, a built in FM radio, GPS, music player and some other features which are quite predictable from a (smart) phone of this age.

Modu is an innovative company known for manufacturing a modular phone. The Modu T has accessibility to various social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Snaptu and others. This latest handset’s features and appearance can be customized by inserting the phone in the ecosystem of the other devices named jackets.

Fy jackets is the one of the most interesting features of the device that can be used to modify the capability of the handset. On connecting, these “fy” jackets improve the functionality of the phone so that users can enjoy additional features on basis of how they want to use their phone. Micromax Modu T has the following two fy jackets:

• Camerafy jacket: It converts the phone into a camera with a 5 megapixel resolution and LED flash.
• Sportfy jacket: It turns it into an exercise companion and personal trainer.

“We are quite fortunate to be launching in a dynamic market such as India with Micromax and with what we believe is a break-through product as the modu T. It is an opportunity for both companies,” said by Dov Moran, CEO and founder of modu.

It is expected that the Modu T phone hit the Indian markets by 22nd October, 2010 and is priced at Rs.12, 000. The company also said that it will launch another five models in the Brazilian market and is waiting for the approval from Anatel, the telecom regulator of Brazil.
