1, Baking Soda is considered to be one of the most effective odor removing agents. To get rid of the stinky smell from your shoes, place a small sachet of baking soda inside them. You can easily make these baking soda sachets at home. Just wrap about 2 tbsp of baking soda in a small piece of cloth and tie it up using a piece of thread, ribbon, or string. You can reuse these pouches, until you smell the foul odor on them. You can also make baking soda sachets using your old socks. However, see to it that the socks don’t have any holes in the toes. To prepare baking soda sachets with socks, take around 4 tbsp of baking soda and then fill up the toe of the sock with it. Lastly, make sure to tie up the opening of the socks to prevent the escape of baking soda from the socks. That’s it. The baking soda sachet is ready. Now, leave these sachets in your shoes overnight to soak up the odors.
Even, you can directly sprinkle some baking soda in the shoes to help reduce the foul odor. For best results, sprinkle one to two teaspoon of baking soda inside your shoes and allow it to stay there overnight. In the next morning, simply shake off any excess baking soda from the shoes before wearing them again.
Another way to use baking soda for the problem of shoe odor is to combine the dry sage with some baking soda. Store this mixture in any airtight container then sprinkle it in your shoes every night.
No matter whichever method you choose, you must take extra care when using baking soda in leather or suede shoes because a build up of baking soda would literally make these shoes become more brittle.
2, Take a clean paper towel, dampen it with lemon juice, and then put some baking soda on top of it. Now, ball it up and simply place one such ball in each of your shoes over night. In a similar manner, you can also dip cotton balls in black tea and place them inside your shoes to get rid of bad odors.
3, Sprinkle some baby powder in both your shoes and socks before using them. This small amount of baby powder will readily absorb the sweat and eventually keep your shoes and socks nice and dry throughout the day.
4, Never wear shoes without socks. If you do so then the shoes will easily absorb the sweat and encourage the bacterial growth, which ultimately causes the bad smell. Moreover, always try to wear white breathable cotton socks. 5, After taking out insoles from shoes, shake the shoes properly to remove dirt or any other residual matter present in them. Next step is to clean the inner sole using a dampened paper towel and continue cleaning the soles until the oil stops appearing on the paper towel. Now, sprinkle some salt into the shoes and make sure to pay special attention to those areas where your foot sweats the most, for example toes. Also rub the salt into the soles of the shoes with the help of a paper towel. Once you’ve done that, leave the shoes for at least a couple of hours. 6, Another effective home remedy for stinky pair of shoes is to apply some rubbing alcohol insides of your shoes and leave it there for approximately 2-3 hours. Rubbing alcohol has an amazing ability to absorb the bad smell.
7, Lay a piece of plastic wrap inside your shoes and it should be placed in such a manner that it covers the entire (inside) bottom part of the shoes. Now, take some cotton balls, put a few drops of clove oil on them, and place them inside your shoes. Let the cotton balls remain there for a few hours or overnight. This will really help you to get rid of the bad odor from your shoes. In stead of clove oil, you can also use eucalyptus or tea tree oil to eliminate the smell from shoes.
