Nowadays, internet is the best way to keep in touch with the people. With the help of internet, you can do chat, talk, email, and many other things online. In order to give opportunity to meet new friends online resources are created. The way the system works is very simple. Good news for the people who are using social networking site, New Chat Site Omegle.com was launched for the chatting with the strangers and making new friends.
Omegle.com is an online browser based chat service that connects you to a random person instantly. Omegle is used for talking to strangers via online chat. 18 years old boy, Leif K-Brooks of Brattleboro created this site and was launched on March 25, 2009. The name "Omegle" is a modification of the word omega. The logo’s blue part contains an omega (Ω) turned crosswise. Omegle introduced a video conferencing feature in addition to text chatting on March 14, 2010.
Omegle is pulling about 1,50,000 hits every day within months of its launch (just think how many people are bored with the people they already know and how many they are in need to find and connect to new people). Mandatory chat names like "You" and "Stranger" in the conversation, the slogan of the site is "Talk to Strangers!,” and at the end of the chat prompts such as "Your conversational partner has disconnected" are used, that appeared to fuel the popularity of the site.
If you want to use Omegle.com then click on “Start a chat” button, and a stranger will join you. There is no need to sign-up, register and download any software. In this site, chats are completely unidentified. You can give your personal details, if you want. There is nothing to stop you from revealing your personal details. It allows you to choose another user randomly and lets you to have a one-on-one chat with each other. Omegle.com is same as other normal chat services. Both of the users have ‘Disconnect’ option, the moment if you don’t want to continue chat, you can click on ‘Disconnect’ button. Meanwhile, you can connect with another stranger.
An Omegle mobile application is also provided by this site to chat with strangers from an Android, iPhone, or iPod Touch device (or any applicable smart phone). No restrictions on age or any other user characteristic, everyone can use this site. An Internet safety blog reviewed Omegle and the author cited that "on my first chat I was offered Crack and then cursed at with plenty of F's showing up". An anti-spam software CAPTCHA is used by the site which periodically challenges users in order to prevent spam messages that being sent by automated bots.
Omegle’s creator, 18-year-old Leif K-Brooks, said that the news of the romance was welcome. News.com.au quoted him as saying, “I created Omegle partly just out of technical curiosity, but also to address a need I saw.” He added: “Most of the time, people associate with each other based on common interests. That’s fine, and I completely understand why people would want to have something in common with their friends. However, if it’s the only kind of social interaction, people’s lives will become a bit stagnant; it’s hard to learn from someone who’s just like you.”
K-Brooks further said that many people had used the website to engage in absurd conversations, thinking that it was a place where insight could be gained. He said: “People have certainly been doing a lot of that with the site, and while it’s not quite my original purpose, I’m happy as long as people are enjoying the site. I enjoyed reading the logs someone posted of asking strangers if they believed in God though. I think it’s a very interesting social experiment.” (ANI)
