An actor Pernell Roberts, who was well-known for his TV roles Adam Cartwright on Bonanza, and John McIntyre on Trapper John MD, died on Sunday at Malibu in California’s residence. Roberts was being last survived by member of the classic Western's cast and died due to the Pancreatic Cancer, his wife Eleanor Criswell told the Los Angeles Times. In 1959, he rocketed to renown as Adam Cartwright, eldest son of a Nevada ranching family led by Lorne Greene's patriarchal Ben Cartwright.

He complained to The Associated Press in 1964 that "They told me the four characters (Greene, himself and Dan Blocker and Michael Landon as his brothers) would be carefully defined and the scripts carefully prepared," "None of it ever happened.”

His character, a man was of 30s and had to continually defer to the wishes of his widowed father, which particularly distressed him. He once asked a reporter that "Doesn't it seem a bit silly for three adult males to get Father's permission for everything they do?".

His six-year contract was agreed but refused to extend by Roberts and when he left the series in 1965, his character was eradicated with the explanation that he had simply moved away. "Bonanza," continued until 1973 with its three remaining stars and it was being made second to "Gunsmoke" as the longest-running Western on TV.
