Crystal Renn was born on 18 June 1986 in Miami, Florida. At the age of 14, Renn started her modeling career in high fashion after being spotted by a professional scout in her hometown in Mississippi. Renn said if she wanted to become a model, she would need to lose almost a third of her total body weight. A health crisis is eventually triggered by this extreme weight loss, causing her to reassess her diet and exercise habits.
Crystal Renn’s agents re-marketed her as a plus-size model after gaining 70 pounds (32 kg) and re-emerging as a U.S. size 12. 'Hungry: A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves ', book about her experiences in the fashion industry in relation to her several body type transformations has been authored by Renn. Renn married her longtime boyfriend Gregory Vrecenak on 30 June 2007, at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Manhattan, New York.
Photographer Brian Boulos took fashion portraits of her wedding. The couple ended their marriage in mid-2009. At present, Renn resides in Brooklyn, New York. Recently, she appeared in the runway show for Chanel Resort 2011 and also appeared in the F/W 2010 Jean Paul Gautier campaign. She has appeared in campaigns for H&M, Dolce & Gabbana, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom. At present, Renn is reporting for Glamour on New York Fashion Week 2010 on the fall collections.
