Prateik Babbar is an actor and was born on 13 December 1986. Prateik Babber is the son of late actress Smita Patil and actor-politician Raj Babber. Smita Patil died because of pregnancy complications, after Prateik Babber was born. In the year 2008, Prateik was first seen in "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" movie by Aamir Khan Production’s film. He is also going to be seen in Kiran Rao’s film "Dhobi Ghaat".

Now, Prateik Babbar is in Goa for shooting of his next film “Dum Maro Dum” by Rohan Sippy. In the year 2009, Prateik Babber won Special Jury award for outstanding performance in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He was also nominated for Flimfare Best Supporting Actor Award in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. By his role in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Raj Babber was dissatisfied because he said that his son’s talent was not used in a correct way.

Now, Prateik is in Goa for shooting of 'Dum Maro Dum' and he is suffering from chicken pox. When he reached in Goa, Prateik felt ill and suffered from the disease chicken Pox. Doctors advised him that not to go outside from his hotel room because chicken pox is transmittable. So, he was unable to go back home and shoot. For some days, shooting had been cancelled. Other stars of the film like Bipasha Basu and Rana Daggubati can shoot and Prateik’s scenes wil be shot later as per Rohan’s schedule.

His aunt Manya Patil said “Though Prateik’s life as a professional has changed and he’s making quite a lot of money, at home we haven’t allowed him to acquire any outward signs of his new status. So yes, Prateik still gets the same pocket money that he used to before he became a star”.

She said “Prateik has been practicing hard in all the Western dance forms - the Salsa, tango, waltz, you name it. Filmy dancing was one area he was weak in. Now he’s making up in that area”.

She added “When Prateik did ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’, he wasn’t sure if he was going to be an actor. The aim now is to be a full-on Hindi film hero. But at the same time Prateik is very much grounded to a reality beyond cinema”.

But Manya also wants Prateik to know the world better.

She said "I take him with me to travel all over the country and outside. I want his world vision to be broadened and to accommodate all kinds of reality not necessarily born from cinema. At home we don't discuss cinema incessantly. Prateik has to understand that there is a vast world outside cinema”.

Prateik always remains connected to his mother’s family. In fact, he shares all his feelings with his aunt Manya’s son Kail who is studying in New York.

She added "Prateik saw Chakra and said he liked his Naseer uncle (Naseeruddin Shah) better than his mom. I looked at him sternly. But he has his own mind. And uses it liberally. He knows exactly what to do”.

She also added "To me there's no difference between Prateik and my biological son Kail. Kail isapproximately a year younger to Prateik. The two cousins share everything - from confidences to clothes. I've never felt any difference in my feelings for Kail and Prateik”.

In the year 2008, Prateik Babber was seen in “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” as Amit. Then, in the year 2010, Prateik is going to be seen in Kiran Rao’s film “Dhobi Ghaat”. After that, in the year 2011, Prateik will be seen in the film named “My Friend Pinto” and then in “Dum Maro Dum”.
