According to official holiday calendar, announced by Singapore Ministry of Manpower, following are the Singapore public holiday 2011. Majority of Singapore holidays 2011 are made of religious holidays, with representation from each major religion namely Islam/Mosleem, Christian, Hindu and Buddhism.
11 public holidays are in Singapore. Among them three are secular: New Year’s Day, Singapore National Day and Labour Day / May Day. And the remaining eight are cultural, racial or religious holidays consist of two Muslim, two Christian holidays, two Indian and two Chinese. Exception on every 32 or 33 years, Hari Raya Puasa which is also known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and in Arabic as Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated twice a calendar year. This occurred in 1968 and 2000, giving Singaporeans 12 public holidays in those years.
There are many other local celebrations which are not listed in the public holidays. Singapore holidays are usually fixed and do not fluctuate due to any reason.
For holidays that fall on Sunday, the following Monday will be declared as public holiday.
