Samsung has launched the entry level Android based Smartphone, ‘Samsung Galaxy Y’ in India. It is company’s cheapest phone that runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating System. The company has targeted young generation for their new Smartphone so they named it as Galaxy Y where letter Y refers to word “young”. It has standard specifications with latest Android OS and will give good experience to people who do not have an Android Smartphone at affordable price.

Design
Galaxy Y measures 104 x 58 x 11.5 mm and weighs 97.5 g. It is the cheapest handset of company and also very small in size.
Screen
Samsung Galaxy Y has 3 inch QVGA TFT touchscreen display which operates at 240x320 pixel resolution and displays images with 256 k colors. The screen is adequate to display Photos and text well but it does not provide web browsing facility.
Performance
Galaxy Y runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is powered by 832 MHz ARM processor. The phone also comes up with Samsung’s social, music hubs, and games.
It also features 2 MP rear camera with 1600x1200 pixels resolution, FM radio, 3.5 mm Stereo headphone jack, and 160 MB internal memory (expandable up to 32 GB with microSD slot card). The phone has 1200 mAh battery which provides talk time of up to 5 hours and standby time of up to 350 hours. In terms of connectivity, Samsung Galaxy Y offers GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G, USB 2.0, and GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. Its dimensions are 104 x 58 x 11.5 mm and weighing 97.5g. The price of this phone is 7,830 in India. The competitors of Galaxy Y will be other android phones like Motorola Charm, Micromax A70, and LG Optimus Me. It will be available in black color.
