Kintaro Hattori was manufacturing his own clocks in a factory called Seikosha, from the words "seiko" means "success" and "sha" means "house." The company grew and flourished, creating its first wristwatch in 1913 and launch the Seiko brand in 1924. Technological innovation has always been a driving force in the company's history. There is no battery to change with Seiko Kinetics; the watch is completely powered by its movement in daily wear. In Seiko 5 the meaning of the "5" is Automatic, Water resistant, Shock resistant, Date and Day. All the movements beat at a rate of 21'600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
