Shaun White childhood, beginning and personal life
Shaun Roger White was born on September 3, 1986 in San Diego, California, US with a heart deficit called Tetralogy of Fallot so he had two open-heart operations before he was a year old. In spite of these conditions, the growing teenager proved that he was far from feeble, charging into sports like surfing, soccer and snowboarding. He has 5 members in the family: Mom (Cathy), Dad (Roger), Sister (Kari) and Brother (Jesse). One of the family's beloved pastimes was skiing.
Shaun proved to be brave on his skis as he raced down the slopes with older brother Jesse at the age of four. He first started snowboarding when he was six years old as Cathy determined to put him on a snowboard and trained him to copy everything that Jesse did. Shaun's snowboarding ability was hold up by his parents so they took him to the mountains as often as possible. Shaun entered his first amateur snowboard contest and won, receiving him a wildcard entry into Nationals at seven. He became sponsored by Burton and turned pro when he was just 13 after winning about all snowboarding competition he had taken part.
