Exclusively WikiLeaks is supported by donations from the general public, most of that come through PayPal but now PayPal cut off the account used for donations to the whistle-blowing website so WikiLeaks is facing a fresh hazard to its survival as the online payment service. Already WikiLeaks is fighting to stay on the internet. US provider shut down its original web address so it switched its domain to Switzerland, since it carry on to release thousands of classified US diplomatic cables.

Recently, Wikileaks has stopped accepting donations through the US-based paypal (owned by auctions group eBay) because of the following reason. A concurrent press release was issued by PayPal saying that it had "permanently suspended" the WikiLeaks account. PayPal claims that "our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity," even though in all its court proceedings, WikiLeaks has been successful and there are no awaiting proceedings. In a message on its Twitter feed, WikiLeaks blamed "US government pressure" for the PayPal ban.

Julian Assange, WikiLeaks editor, stated that "What we are seeing here are dangerous moves towards a digital McCarthyism. These actions, and the others like it, are not the result of a legal process, but rather, are a result of fear of falling out of favor with Washington."

Last week, subsequent to several similar attacks the move comes preliminary with the elimination of WikiLeaks’ Amazon.com servers after interference by US Senator Lieberman & the Department of Homeland Security.
