Split Personality Disorder Test

It does find a place in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) compiled by the American Psychiatric Association, even as the uncertainty about split personality disorder being an authentic disorder or not continues to prevail. Psychiatrist or psychologist can perform the diagnosis by resorting to specially designed interviews and personality assessment tools, according to the DSM. These tests generally hold a stipulated number of questions that are related to the individual’s day-to-day experiences. Person taking these tests should be in absolutely neutral frame of mind and should not be under the pressure of alcohol and drugs.

Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV is most popular thought, when we talk regarding specially designed interviews. It refers as diagnostic exam primarily used to diagnose some of the major dissociative disorders. The test may take between 1-2 hours time. Other option of diagnosis is the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES). Questionnaire is used to diagnose dissociative. DES tests are also available for children and adolescents.

Whatever test is chosen, it must be performed by a trained professional to get credible results. Person who faces these tests has to give answer honestly as a part of the diagnosis process. Psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and psychiatric medications are mostly used for this disorder treatment. The treatment process becomes easier if the disorder is diagnosed quickly.
