Sporcle: iPhone mentally stimulating diversion

We all are familiar with the website Sporcle.com. Launched in July 2007, this website is based on trivia quiz, whereby the user has to answer the list of items asked on a given subject. This not only keeps the user entertained but is also quite educational.

But now, this website has even turned into a web application for the iPhone, called by the same name Sporcle. Its educational and fun-filled games keep the users of the iPhones glued to the application.

This is considered to be the application of most demand, in the App. Store, and is accompanied by a price tag of $0.99. This application has even made it to the top 125 paid apps overall.

Each time a user logs in through the iPhone, the user is greeted with almost a list of newly created trivia quizzes for them to try. In the specific categories section, the user gets the option of choosing and boggling himself among more than 300 quizzes. The quizzes include anything and everything we can think of, and it is still on the growth.

About how to play the game, it is quite simple. On selection of the particular quiz, there shall be a time limit and clues, all of which are set by the creator. The player is supposed to type out the answers to the provided clues, with proper spelling.

The user, on completion of the game, will be given a score. The best part of the game is that the answers will be compared to all the other answers of other people who took the game, and present a comparative study of the same.

Moreover, the players shall be able to post their results on Facebook, and can even comment on and rate the other players’ quizzes, if they have logged in through their Sporcle account.

The variety of fields provided by this app truly makes it an application of choice and quality. Though the visual presentation in this web based app is not as good as that of the web application, this still holds high position in the minds of its users.

One disappointment on the iPhone version of Sporcle is that the user is not able to create quizzes, which is very much possible in the website. Also, the game may become quite cumbersome on the small screen of the iPhone.
