Superiority Complex (SC) is a personality disorder which is found in man and also in other forms of life. Every person has some kind of self-esteem which gives him/her the self-respect. It is a difficult disorder to deal with, however luckily those of people affected by it are usually much better than others would be at managing. This article describes about the psychiatric illness of superiority complex personality disorders (abbreviated as SCP Disorders).
The SCP Disorders is a psychiatric illness which refers to the unrealistic and inflated belief that one is better than others. In this condition, the patient possesses the fantasy and inattentiveness experiences that he is better than other individuals in content as a human being. Superiority Complex is juxtaposed to "inferiority complex" in which this expands in sufferers as a way to recompense for unconscious feelings of low self-esteem or meagerness.
In a superiority complex, the behaviors of the person may include an inflated opinion of one’s worth and capabilities, unrealistically high expectations in goals and achievements for oneself and others, persistent attempts to correct others (regardless of whether or not they are actually correct), a propensity to discredit others' opinions and over-forcefulness intended at dominating those considered as weaker or less important.
Behaviors associated to an inferiority complex may include overstatement of one’s worth and capabilities to others, conceit, profligate dressing (intent on drawing attention), extreme need for competition, pride, over-sentimentality and affected exaltation, snobbishness, a tendency to discredit others' opinions and over-forcefulness intended at dominating those who threaten their image of superiority.
Signs & Symptoms of Superiority Complex:
In person, superiority complex is noticeable in the attitude, character and the opinion of his/her about himself/herself. sufferers have inflated affectations of himself/herself and the others around him/her. This disorder is deceived by haughtiness, arrogance, conceit about personal look (which can be from extremely cared for to readily inattentive), eccentric dressing, exuberance, snobbery, bragging, tyrannical behavior, a proneness for hunting mistakes and faults in others and many more.
Some factors which trigger these sentiments include a lack of social communication or mistakes that the parents made, paradoxically or unconsciously, out of love for their kids. As per psychologists, the history of humankind is filled with cases of inferiority sentiment and with the efforts to solve it. The sentiments must not be permitted to be converted into one of these two complexes.
By motivating people to solve problems and issues, the inferiority sentiment can be used in a positive way. The superiority sentiment ruins a feeling that does not affect those around us, just maintains high self-esteem of people. Although the person who suffers from superiority complex is one hundred percent sure he is inferior in some way, still he acts proudly.
The removal of underlying inferiority complex is necessary in order to overcome superiority complex. The root cause must be removed to get rid of superiority complex. The superiority complex will be cured by treating the cause of inferiority.
