Tata Motors is famous for keeping brand names of vehicle under wraps till their launch, now the smaller variant of Tata Ace is going to launch, with 0.5-tonne payload, as Ace Zip. Fact is that, Zip is usually used in the Information Technology industry, which means more capacity in a small space and connote speed. The company will launch Tata Ace Zip in the Indian market soon.
To develop a smaller variant of Tata Ace, market leader in light commercial vehicles has been working for a while. According to industry experts, it will take on the Force Motors' Trump 15, Mahindra Gio, and three-wheelers brands like Piaggio's Ape and Bajaj Auto's GC Max in the domestic market, it is believed that it will be priced in the price range of Rs 1.6 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, in line with existing products.
Umesh Karne, auto analyst, Brics Securities said, “keeping in mind the huge network of the company and the highly efficient product skills there are hardly any reason to why the mini Ace will not succeed in the Indian market.” According to an industry estimate, the ultra-light commercial vehicles (ULCV) market would be around 1.5 lakh units per year and is expected to grow further with products coming from competitors like Daimler, Ashok Leyland and Nissan which too is entering the LCV business.
