2010 Haiti Earthquake had strike at 16:53:09 local time (21:53:09 UTC) on Tuesday 12 January 2010. It was a magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake centered approximately 10 miles (16 km) from Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The Earthquake was afterward followed by numerous aftershocks recorded by the United States Geological Survey and 12 of them between magnitudes 5.0 and 5.9.

The eyewitnesses reported that there is a heavy damage and bodies in the streets of the capital, Port-au-Prince, in 2010 Haiti Earthquake. Till Tuesday evening there was no estimate of the dead and wounded, and the number is going on increasing. Haitian President, Rene Preval told that his government wants help for clearing streets so rescuers can reach some of the hardest-hit areas as the basic services like water and electricity were out. Preval said, "We need medicine, we need medical help in general, some of the hospitals, they collapsed."
The United Nations said in a statement that the headquarters of the United Nations mission was badly damaged, and many employees were missing and part of the national palace had collapsed. Felix Augustin, Haiti's consul general said to the U.N., Port-au-Prince "is flattened.”
