They are hidden items that Bungie has left for us to find in the Halo Reach Campaign. The first 9 Data Pads can be found on any difficulty level throughout the campaign, and the last 10 Data Pads can only be found in legendary mode. These Data Pads are not collectibles but they connect the story as they contain information. Location Guide to find Halo Reach Data Pads:

Data Pad: 1

• Location: ONI Sword Base
• Difficulty: Any

Find it in the sword base. Search for the big room there and you can find it under the stairs at third level.

Data Pad: 2

• Location: ONI Sword Base
• Difficulty: Legendary

There is a multilevel tower next to comms antennae outside. On reaching to the top of the tower, head to the railings beside cliffs. To reach the rocky plain, jump across a broken bridge. Investigate the area to find the Data Pad.

Data Pad: 3

• Location: Winter Contingency
• Difficulty: Any

Move right across the first river to find some buildings with a covenant in them. Investigate these buildings to get to the Data Pad.

Data Pad: 4

• Location: Winter Contingency
• Difficulty: Legendary

You will find enemy heading to the fields at the beginning of the level. You require intercepting them and killing them before it reaches the field. For the first time, you may not be capable to do this. Restart to try again.

Data Pad: 5

• Location: Night Fall
• Difficulty: Any

At the starting of the level, it can be found. Find Data Pad in the cave to your right.

To follow the red color on the horizon, use your vehicle and find a building with black windows. Find the data pad on its roof.

Fly to the back of your landing point. Find the data pad which is placed on a ledge below.

Previous to you head to the dig point using the lift, head to the green panel in the lift room. You will find the data pad on the floor.
