Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha

The company is planning to introduce the production ready model of this SUV by the end of 2013 or early 2014. As per the company officials, the looks of XA Alpha will be different from the existing Maruti Suzuki models. When talking about exteriors, it features a chrome finished grille with five apertures, which carries the company’s logo. It is expected that the diesel will be either a refreshed engine that will conform to the emission norms in 2015 or the same 1.5-litre CRDi engine used in the Elantra and Verna. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) plans to price the compact SUV less than Rs 10 lakh to compete with Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, and a soon-to-be-launched Maruti compact SUV.
Tata Motors compact SUV
With iconic Safari model, Tata Motors has a long withstanding history in the SUV sector. The company is mulling all its options of foraying in the compact SUV segment since the competition has reached another level in the sector of Safari. Tata Motors is working on an SUV that will be based on the Manza, Vista, or also the Sumo Grande platform. Tata Motors Compact SUV will be below 4 meters and priced in the 8-9 lakh range and compete with the highly successful Ford Eco-Sport and the Renault Duster. The engine will be a more powerful version of the 1.3 Fiat sourced Multijet engine, however the power ratings could be 108bhp, rather than 90bhp. The vehicle is expected to be priced around Rs. 9-10 lakh, and itwill compete with Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster, etc. This 7-seater car could be just below 4-metres because of Honda’s philosophy of “Man-Maximum Machine-Minimum”. In India, the compact SUV will have a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine that got too much success with the Amaze, delivering a perfect combination of performance and fuel efficiency.
Fiat Punto Adventure
Seven new models in India are on the way from the Italian car maker Fiat. And, one of the models is the Punto Adventure. The Punto Adventure will have a 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine, and arrive in India by 2014. The price of this vehicle seems to be same as the Renault’s existing Duster models. As per the reports, the compact SUV of Fiat would boast of higher ground clearance and further body cladding to thwart it from thrashing the surface on uneven terrains. The Abarth Punto, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Cherokee will be launched by Fiat this year, and the Linea Classic is another sedan that the company will introduce. This will be a C segment sedan that will challenge with the Mahindra Verito, Toyota Etios, and other equally priced vehicles.
