Michelle Obama stated, "The largest corporation in America is launching a new initiative that has the potential to transform the marketplace and to help American families put healthier food on their tables."

Walmart receives approximately 140 millions of customer a week. It is not only major groceries supplier but also leading purchaser of food products from the top food companies like Kraft. Because of its strong position, Walmart is able to take up all possible cost when they will reduce the cost on the fresh items. A senior vice president of sustainability at Walmart, Andrea Thomas said, "If the reformulations are adopted by the entire grocery industry, adults in the U.S. will consume approximately 47 million fewer pounds of sodium each year."

In order to make the products more healthy, Walmart has decided to decrease sodium content by 25 percent and sugar upto 10 percent in their products like sauces, fruit drinks, or dairy items. Trans-fatty acids and hydrogenated oils can also be removed from the packaged food by 2015. It will focus more on the items such as lunch meats, fruit juices and salad dressings etc.

Walmart has taken a big step in turning towards the healthy lives. Though it has five years slow plan, consumer will get benefit of healthy food with improved flavor and taste without additives.
