Why you should buy the Aakash 2 UbiSlate Tablet?

FaceBookTwitter

The low-cost Aakash tablet got a huge response from public since it was released online by DataWind. Aakash tablet was sold out in less than a week after its launch and it was called as the world's cheapest tablet. 30,000 Aakash tablets were placed online for selling with a price tag of Rs. 2,500. But this 7-inch tablet was disapproved for its slower processor and minimal features, particularly when compared with the Aakash 2 that comes with better specifications.

Aakash 2 is called as UbiSlate 7 that is planned to be launched in January with price tag of Rs. 2,999. This device is also made for online orders and it is a better deal of DataWind. UbiSlate 7 contains GPRS support, 2 USB 2.0 ports and better Wi-Fi connectivity speeds. It also comes with provision for 3G modem and it could facilitate 150,000 Apps and several video games. It is expected that this tablet contains a front-camera, 2GB onboard Flash storage, support of graphics processor and a HD video processor, a more powerful 3200mAh battery that could give 4 to 5 hours of battery life compared to 3 hours.

Why you should buy the Aakash 2 UbiSlate Tablet?

Approximately, 8,000 tablet PCs sold daily in India. The increasing hope is that the arrival of Aakash 2 in January may change the face of Indian education market. If you are interested to buy this tablet, then you need to know some reason about why you should buy it:

Phone:

Aakash 2 tablet works as a phone with the use of a SIM card and 3G facility. Its SIM functionality also extends to voice calls. The call functionality is also one of the factors that differentiate it from the Aakash tablet. This sub-3K device contains a standard 3.5mm jack for the convenience of making and receiving calls. Commercial version of Aakash can be used as a phone as it has SIM and 3G facility. If you have Aakash tablet, then you don't need to keep a phone/smartphone.

Connectivity:

UbiSlate 7 supports both GPRS and Wi-Fi and it contains support for optional 3G modems. It also has two full-sized USB ports into the unit that allow connecting external storage devices such as pen-drives, external keyboards, web-cams and dongles. Aakash only supports Wi-Fi on connectivity front. Some parts of India still do not have access to networking options like Wi-Fi. One of the major thoughts behind the Aakash was to bridge the space between the rural India and technology. The Aakash 2 is possible to see more usability in the rural India.

Battery life:

An important factor for the mobile devices is Battery life. The UbiSlate 7 contains a better 3,200 mAh battery that gives 4-5 hours of battery life. The Aakash tablet has a 2100 mAh battery, which delivers up to 3 hours of battery life.

Performance:

The UbiSlate 7 is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and a better Cortex A8 – 700 MHz processor. The UbiSlate 7 is most probable to come with a capacitive touchscreen. It contains a seven-inch resistive touch-screen with 800x480 pixels resolution, and 256MB of RAM. While Aakash runs on Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and is powered by Arm11 – 366MHz processor.

Android Market:

UbiSlate 7 can access to the Android Market or pre-load some more apps in the device. This could be a major benefit. But Aakash tablet does not support access to the Android Market; means many apps, ranging from educational and entertainment will not be available on the device. Document formats such as DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, XLS, XLSX, ODT, and ODP are supported by Aakash tablet as well as it can also run a PDF viewer and text editor.

External memory:

UbiSlate 7 contains a 2GB internal memory that can be further extended up to 32GB, with the use of the external microSD card. The overall storage capacity of this tablet is nearly similar to the other tablets that are available at hefty price tags.

Warranty:

DataWind provides 30 days replacement warranty, along with a one year warranty on Aakash and its commercial version. It is expected that this Rs. 2,900 device lasts at least a year long.

Affordable Price:

Maybe the affordable price of Aakash 2, UbiSlate i.e. Rs. 2,999 become the key selling point of the tablet. The Aakash 1 is the cheapest tablet available at the price of Rs. 2,500.
