Yamaha, Japan-based Two-wheeler Company has declared that the company will introduce new electric bike in high demanding motorcycle market of India soon. Yamaha is also producing India specific scooter that will also come in India in short time. India Yamaha Motor is always trying to alter the market from utility to satisfaction for daily life.
The Sales and Marketing Director of India Yamaha Motor, Jun Nakata stated to media, “For rising fuel prices, electric bike is a good option. Currently we are selling electric bikes in Japan and Europe. There is a possibility for the Indian market for introducing these products.”
But, the specification and pricing details of this future electric bike are not revealed yet by the company. India Yamaha Motor concentrates mostly on the Indian market for more investments because the company wants to get 10% of its entire global sales from India throughout the next three to four years.
Previous year, the company had declared to examine the Indian scooter market and expectedly it was finished during the middle of 2010.
Jun Nakata explained concerning the company’s plans for Scooter segment that the company is planning to jump in to the scooter market. He added that the product is under production in Japan which will be an India-specific product.
Roy Kurian, National Business Head of India Yamaha Motor described about Yamaha’s plans for the year 2011, “Every year we launch new products. This year we will introduce two new bikes and some variants of the existing models.” He just said that the company was consolidating its position in the 150cc segment, but not specified any information about the upcoming products.
Throughout the 2010, the company sold 3.7 lakh units comprising exports of 1.2 lakh units. For 2011, they have target to sell 40 to 50 % more than last year, as per Kurian’s statement.
